Dr. Amit H. Patel is a double board-certified physician with training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Management. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in New York, and then completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at SUNY Stony Brook, New York where he developed his interest in spine and musculoskeletal medicine. He furthered his studies through a pain fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Health System where he received training in the use of advanced interventional pain management procedures.
Dr. Patel has served as a physician with a private practice in New York, as well as an Assistant Professor with joint appointments in the Departments of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery and Neurology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina where he instructed residents and medical students, as well as assisted in the development of the Spine program.
Dr. Patel implements minimally invasive treatments including education, therapeutic exercise, and precise, image-guided interventional procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of painful spine and musculoskeletal disorders. He enjoys helping patients achieve maximal functional recovery by creating specific treatment plans for each patient, with an additional focus on safety and comfort.
